The upcoming 4 Series lineup has now been revealed to include it’s own Gran Coupé version and, according to BMW, it is “the first four-door coupe in the premium mid-size class”, joining the ranks with the 4 Series Coupé and Cabriolet to rival the Audi A5.
Domagoj Dukec, Head of Exterior Design at BMW and Paloma Schmidt-Braekling, Product Manager for the 4 Series Gran Coupe, talk about the new 4 Series Gran Coupé in detail here:
The 4 Series Gran Coupé, at launch, will be featuring a range of three petrol engines (420i, 428i, 435i) and two diesel engines (418d, 420d), all mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic gearbox. For the top-end of the range, 435i has been factory rated to produce 302BHP and accelerate from 0 to 60MPH in under 5.2 seconds. The more economical 418d is expected to return approximately 62.8MPG and emit only 119g/KM of CO2.
The new 4 Series Gran Coupé will also feature rear wheel drive as standard, but xDrive will also be available as a four wheel drive option. Prices are expected to start at $42,000 in the U.S market for the 428i base model.
